What Do I Do

Machinery Automation, Systems Integration.

Electrical / Hardware / Database / Software Engineering, Troubleshooting, Data Mining, Requirements & Compliance Development, contributing wherever I can, building consensus.

Research, design, selection, implementation, test, and documentation of hardware, software, instrumentation, data acquisition, and control systems.

Career spent in Electrical and Systems Engineering departments of Prime and Second-Tier defense contractors, designing electrical systems for surface and subsurface combatants, large commercial ships, and the electrical enclosures installed within them.

Worked SSN774 Virginia Class Fast Attack Nuclear Submarine; TAKE MSC Lewis and Clark Cargo Ship; DDG-1000 Zumwalt Destroyer.

Professional Background

I'm a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer at Raytheon working on the DDG-1000 Zumwalt Destroyer program.
Before that, I was an Electrical Engineering Manager at AP Labs, designing custom rugged VME chassis for most of the prime military defense contractors.
Before that, I was a Sr. Electrical Engineer at EB and NASSCO divisions of GD, designing the shipboard electrical systems for submarines (Virginia SSN774) and cargo ships (TAKE).
Before that, I was a Licensed Electrician working residential, commercial and industrial electrical construction.

I think an engineer becomes strongest by combining discipline with innovation.  A disciplined engineer follows procedures and meets deadlines.  An innovative engineer brainstorms solutions to problems that have no clear-cut procedures, essentially inventing new processes.
